3 DAYS SOUTHERN SCENERY (3 Days / 2 Nights)

Silver beaches, Stilt fishermen, Boat rides ....

Day 1: Colombo - Bentota - Galle
Thursday, May 2, 2024 - Friday, May 3, 2024

The first stop will be Lununganga “perhaps the most magical garden retreat in the world” created by Geoffrey Bawa as his nirvana, “a tropical Stourhead”. Also on this same road is The Workshop, a great place to purchase contemporary garden furniture and lamps. Continue to Balapitiya for boat trip at a beautiful river called Madu Ganga which offers a glimpse of how it has become a part of the life of the people in the area. The main treasure of Madu Ganga is its mangroves that act as a bio-lock to the area in giving protection to the variety of aquatic plants and animal life. They provide a home for different kinds of aquatic plants, crabs, shrimps, fish, various invertebrates and other animal life .

Day 2: Galle
Friday, May 3, 2024 - Saturday, May 4, 2024

Visit the Stilt Fishermen in Weligama. This is no ordinary fishing, there might be several methods of catching a fish but this one is mind-boggling. Fishermen in Sri Lanka use stilts to catch a fish. Yes, stilt fishing is an old tradition practiced by around 500 fishing families in Galle. They usually fish during sunset, noon and sunrise, with each one taking their elevated position and balancing about 2 metres above the water.

In the afternoon wander on the ramparts and explore the historic town of Galle and the 17th century Dutch Fort, a UNESCO-protected World Heritage site. Walk down Galle Forts narrow streets lined with Dutch and British colonial era buildings which are still in use, sturdy ramparts looking out to sea, the lighthouse, and a growing collection of art galleries.

There is so much to discover and it is best to do it on foot.

Day 3: Galle - osgoda - olombo
Saturday, May 4, 2024 - Sunday, May 5, 2024

Drive along the west coast to Colombo. The sandy beaches are the main attraction in the string of small towns such as Kalutara, Beruwela, Bentota, Ambalangoda, Ahungalla and Hikkaduwa.

Visit Kosgoda’s Marine Turtle hatchery – a valuable conservation project that protects the endangered Marine Turtles of Sri Lanka.

Experience Ambalangoda’s cultural heritage with a visit to the Mask Museum where intricate masks used in various southern traditional dance forms are on display.
